Top Accessories, Tools and Nice-To-Haves

We've put together this top list of RV accessories, tools and other things that you may need to have when RVing.

Here are the Top 5 things I would make sure I have on every trip.
We see many new RVers ask...

".. I'm going on my first RV trip what do I need to bring?"

The list can be daunting, depending on who you ask. Here are a few of the best recommended items that you may want to make sure you bring.

  • Spare Tire (..or 4) - Yes, I personally have had all 4 of my tires blow out on the same trip. We were going from North Carolina to Orlando, FL. The first one went about three hours into the trip. Two more went while traveling through South Carolina. I thought we were going to make it to the campground and 40 minutes out the last one blew on the side of I-4 in Orlando at 10PM and haven't slept for more than 24 hours.

  • A Good Jack - Eluding to the incident above, If I had a good jack and 4 spares I would have made it to Orlando even after having to change the tires. A lug nut wrench and the usual necessities to change a tire would be included here.

  • A Toliet Wand - For the unexpected stuck commode.

  • A Water Pressure Regulator Valve - This is one of those insurance things. Not sure if you need it but when you do you have it.

  • Water Filter - An inline water filter could save you from some yucky tasting water. Especially that artesian well water in Florida. If it turns your house brown I don't want to know what it does to your insides, can't be good.

Moral of this story is make sure you have good tires. I would ask that you check your tires right now and if you have Castle Rock tires stop what you are doing and replace them immediately. They are dangerous and should even be sold, in my opinion. There are others out there that you should steer away from. Some of the better tires are Goodyear Endurance, Michelin and a few others I heard were decent.

Take care of the necessities everything else is nice-to-have. See you out there.
